The Bruce Gordon Fan Club!
| The First
Unofficial Meeting of the Bruce Gordon Fan Club: A Trip Report: July 17th, 1999 So many people have been asking us how July 17th had gone that I finally have decided to sit down and write for you fellow Bruce Fans the events that led up to the debut of our fan club! The day started out with mingling and introductions. Several of our newly printed out Bruce Gordon Fan club cards were passed out and most were impressed with our new effort. |
[Bruce at the Gallery signing - Those silly heads spelled his name wrong!] |
Bruce as many of you might have known, was appearing at the gallery that day to sign lithographs and mingle with his fans (thats us!).
The Gallery event wasnt starting till 3:30, and although we had a suspicion that most people going to the signing wouldnt know who Bruce was, we decided to let them have their opportunity to mingle before we took up Bruces time.
So in the mean time, the members of the Bruce Gordon Fan Club unofficially toured the park together for the first time. We went out in search of the Hidden Mickey Bruce said was built into the Rocket Rods Platform (we couldnt see it) and checked out Innoventions and the wonderful view of Bruces Tomorrowland.
Around 4 p.m. though, word came down to us that in fact Bruce had already known about our little surprise. Actually its a first for us, since usually its the Imagineers secrets that are leaked to us, and not visa versa. Turn about is fair play we assumed. We attempted to come to grips with the knowledge that Bruce was in on our little secret, and fearing whatever may come of it we decided to go ahead with our little venture.

[Bruce's reaction!]
Sometime around 5:30 (no really I dont wear a watch) we approached the Gallery. Upon our arrival our wonderful coaches filled us in on the situation and prepared us for the meeting. We learned that not only was Bruce at the end of the line of Imagineers, but that he also had our Fan Club card on the desk!
After some confusion and a little uh... persuasion, we finally met Bruce in the Gallery.
After fearing the worst from Bruce, we found that he was actually very tolerant of our club idea! Of course with him smirking at our nervousness, we completely forgot to ask him what his favorite color was and when his birthday was. Maybe sometimes in the future all this will be revealed to us. Bruce then, very politely signed out wonderful cards and we let him get back to his mingling!
What a wonderful guy that Bruce is!
